Andrew Bayer & Allison May – Brick

29 Jul

I’m very excited about this tune here to show you guys. It is from the infamous Andrew Bayer, who I featured a couple weeks ago with “From The Earth”.

The track is unreleased and was just played for the first time today on Above & Beyond’s podcast “Trance Around the World”. It is a very chill, electronic track that caught my ear right away. It has a very happy feel to it, and made me want to go ski some powder right away. Take it as you will, but I hope you enjoy this new, unreleased track. I’ll be sure to post the original, full version when it is released. Enjoy!

John Mayer – In Your Atmosphere (Live)

28 Jul

John Mayer is one of my favorite live performers, mostly because he shreds on the guitar and plays some real good blues. Most people don’t know that he plays a lot of blues in his live shows and isn’t the typical acoustic album artist that most people know of. His album Where the Light Is has some of the best John Mayer I’ve heard, because the whole performance includes acoustic, blues, and rock all in one. I highly suggest to get the whole album if you enjoy any bit of John Mayer.

Here I have one of my favorite acoustic songs from the Where the Light Is album, “In Your Atmosphere”. Enjoy this great live performance!

Explosions in the Sky – Last Known Surroundings

26 Jul

Explosions in the Sky is one of the best instrumental bands I’ve ever heard. All of their songs are so magical and have tons of emotion if listened closely. They released a new album this spring named Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. It is full of great music just like all of their albums – I suggest to check out more of them if you enjoy this tune. Here I have a new music video they just released of “Last Known Surroundings”. It’s very cool to watch how the video and song bring you on a journey through music. Enjoy!

Howler – I Told You Once

25 Jul

So I usually shy away from most hipster/indie music, but I’ll admit, there’s some that’s pretty good. The Current is pretty good at playing a lot of the bad stuff, but every now and then they play a new band/song that’s pretty damn good. I heard this song last week and couldn’t help liking its catchiness. It’s simple and clean, something missing from a lot of new music put out these days.

Howler is a local surf/indie band out of Minneapolis who is getting a lot of attention over in Europe. They were just named #3 in the 50 best new bands of 2011 in NME magazine (big euro online music mag). Check out their first single.

Burning Spear – Play Jerry

24 Jul

Burning Spear is as good as it gets when it comes to roots reggae. He has been making reggae music since 1969 and has become quite the legend for his music and Rastafari messages. Bob Marley actually helped him get his music career started and had a big influence on him.

The tune I have here, “Play Jerry”, was written in honor of Jerry Garcia from the Grateful Dead, and has lyrics mentioning the Grateful Dead jamming, and for Jerry to play his guitar. It is taken from their (A)live in Concert 97 album, which is a VERY good one. I suggest to check out the rest of the album if you like some good, live reggae. Enjoy!

eMC – Traffic

22 Jul

eMC is a hip-hop group formed by the well known rapper/producer Masta Ace, along with Wordsworth, Punchline, and Stricklin. Their 2008 album The Show is one of my favorite hip-hop albums I’ve ever heard, check it out. Here is one of my favorites from that album, “Traffic”.

Muddy Waters – Champagne & Reefer

21 Jul

Nothing like some blues from the man himself, Muddy Waters. A much more recent song from his 1981 release King Bee.
