The Allman Brothers Band – In Memory of Elizabeth Reed

1 Aug

The Allman Brothers Band is a southern rock band from Florida that had some of the best musicians alive during the 70’s. The band has gone through lots of transformations with different members and music, but has produced great records since the late 60’s. They are most known for their live album At Filmore East, which is a live recording of a two day concert they had in the summer of 1971 in New York City. It is said to be one of the best live recordings ever made in history, and one of the greatest albums made of all time. The tune I have here, “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed”, is my favorite from this record. I’ll let the song speak for itself.

Jam on!

An important part of history is how the band’s leader Duane Allman and the bassist Berry Oakley were killed in separate motorcycle accidents during the recording of their next album. A tremendous tragedy.
