Inspired Flight – It’s The Chemicals

27 Oct

I still thank the Montana guys from Toy Soldier Productions for featuring this great track in their last ski film, “Come Find Us”. If you are a fan of skiing, definitely check out that film! Inspired Flight is a group of two guys from California that are on the rise of their career, even opening up for Thievery Corporation last month! Their music is hard to classify under a genre because they mesh so many different styles together. “It’s the Chemicals” is a great tune that has elements of electronic, hip-hop, and rock. The vocals and music in this one flow together so well and make for an overall great tune! Check out their album We All Want to Fly for other great songs from them. Enjoy!

Nas & Damian Marley – Friends

24 Oct

Two of my favorite types of music are hip-hop and reggae because they are so chill and have lots of meaning behind the music/lyrics. And today’s post morphs those two great genres together with some some amazing artists. Distant Relatives is a hip-hop/reggae album, collaborating Nas and Damian Marley (Bob Marley’s youngest son). The album is inspired by both musician’s ancestry in Africa and their relationship between each other. The album uses several African music samples, which makes this very authentic and real for the African listeners it is written about. To show their support for Africa, all the proceeds for this album will go towards the building of a school in Congo. So go support these great artists for their music and the good cause behind it! Enjoy!

Eric Prydz vs. OceanLab – Breaking 2Night (Maor Levi Mash Up)

17 Oct

Been a while since I posted, I apologize. Today I have a great mashup done by Maor Levi, of the legends Eric Prydz and Oceanlab. Eric Prydz’s new new track “2Night” was released recently and is an amazing house track by itself. However, so is Oceanlab’s “Breaking Ties”, so why not mash them together? Maor Levi did a great job on this one and the lyrics match perfectly with Prydz’s track. This track is unreleased but a great listen for anyone! Enjoy!

This last weekend, my buddy from Minnesota Brian Kramer spun his debut set at America’s #1 club, Beta Nightclub in Denver, CO. This is a huge opportunity and goal for any DJ/producer, since Beta is such a high end club and has the best sound setup in the world. I’m bummed I missed out on this night but after listening to this live recording, I’m sure it was a wild night. Look out for future CO gigs from Brian Kramer and the Basement Rythm crew! Steve Brian & Cressida – Cambodia (SHato & Paul Rockseek Remix)

5 Oct

Today I have a great trance track from Steve Brian & Cressida, remixed by the newcomers SHato & Paul Rockseek. “Cambodia” is a very spacey, uplifting tune with an amazing melody and breakdown. The first time I heard this, I just wanted to get up and dance in a club. This remix is still unreleased, and is a set rip from Above & Beyond’s TATW radio show podcast. Enjoy!

Sigur Rós – Festival

4 Oct

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have been too busy in Europe having fun, but hey what’s wrong with that? Anyway, on with the music!

Sigur Rós is such an amazing band, making very unique and emotional songs with so much power in them. The tune I have today, “Festival”, is a great example of that in a whole. The original version has a long 4 minute of intro of Jonsi singing beautifully, but here I am posting the instrumental 2nd half of the song. It has an awesome intro, which is a massive crescendo into the best part of the song where the whole band comes in (horns, vocals, drums). Once you listen to this song straight through, you will see what I mean by the power and emotion behind it. Enjoy!
