See-I – Dub Revolution (Omegaman Remix)

23 Jan

See-I is a reggae group from D.C. that just premiered their first album this last fall. Their new album artist album See-I was released under Fort Knox Recordings, which comes from the famous electronic group Fort Knox Five. The track I have today is a great remix of “Dub Revolution” by Omegaman. This is one of my favorite tunes from the album because of its classic dub feel. The combination of the bass line, horns, percussion and vocal samples just get you groovin in your seat. Be sure to check out the rest of their songs off the See-I Remixed album; they won’t disappoint! Enjoy!

The New Mastersounds – Idle Time (Lack Of Afro Remix)

18 Jan

Today I have a groovy funk remix of The New Mastersounds’ “Idle Time”. Lack of Afro consists of one man, Adam Gibbons, from the UK, taking pride in funk, soul, and jazz music. Some of his biggest influences are legends Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, and even hip-hop producer DJ Shadow. “Idle Time” has a great combination of a groovy bass line, organ, horns, and guitar, making it a good tune to jam out to, whether you’re in your room or at a party. Enjoy!

Mansions on the Moon – Rest Of Your Days

14 Jan

Today I have a great acoustic song by Mansions on the Moon, taken from their new Lightyears EP. I featured their tune “Leaves Fall” last month and this one is just as good! It’s too bad that it is so short, but it is quite the gem. The harmony and guitar in it are so beautiful and to be honest, this song reminds me a lot of the legends Simon & Garfunkel. Sit back and enjoy, and don’t be shy to grab the free download below!

The Naked and Famous – No Way

9 Jan

Happy New Year everyone! I apologize for the lack of posts lately, I have been very busy with holidays, adjusting back to the U.S., and moving back in to my house in Colorado. I have my post here of the new year, and it is a great one from the New Zealand indie rock group The Naked and Famous. “No Way” has an amazing combination of calming vocals mixed with an acoustic guitar, along with a high energy chorus of the whole band coming in. These guys remind me a lot of M83 and Sigur Ros, where they have so much emotion in their songs and explode into the chorus off of a calming beat or melody. Enjoy!
